Light & Land

The paintings in Light and Land have been in the works for several years.

In 2017 while participating in a Fellowship at Chateau Orquevaux, I was reinvigorated by the landscape and how light felt purer in the, new to me, space. I was acutely aware of the saturation of color and the contrasts in how the environment engulfed and freed me with each step that I walked through the forests and fields. This special time reignited an appreciation for time and space that I hadn’t felt since my girlhood, running free in the woods behind my childhood home. The similarities in the feelings of promise, found in these different moments and environments, are valuable to me as references I make in each of the new works presented here, particularly in the colors chosen to represent these memories.
